Maine Lighthouse ABC book launches in Stonington
Authors Peter and Connie Roop, along with illustrator Jeremiah Savage and editor Caroline Spear, held a book launch for a new children’s book, titled Maine Lighthouse ABC, at the Stonington Public Library on July 7. About 30 people came through to not only hear the Roops read from the book, but also to hear how it all came together. Spear passed around the manuscript and loose pages that came back from the printer, while Savage took the group through his illustration process, from the pencil sketches to putting them on the computer and filling in the color electronically. The book was displayed on the screen so that attendees could follow along throughout. The book is the latest of 100 books published by the Roops, and the first they have published through Penobscot Books, a division of Penobscot Bay Press, which publishes Island Ad-Vantages.
Maine Lighthouse ABC illustrator Jeremiah Savage explains how the illustrations for the book came to life during a book launch at the Stonington Public Library on July 7.
