The Mariner cheerleaders placed third in the Eastern Regional Competition on January 28 at the Bangor Auditorium. Squad member Sarah Wilson said the competition was tough on Saturday, since a few class C schools were dropped down to the class D competition. “We were able to come in third and only missed second by two points,” said Wilson. “Our routine hit clean and we were all proud of our performance.” The squad will practice improving the routine—especially tumbling and stunts—over the next few weeks. The state championship is Saturday, February 11 at the Augusta Civic Center. Go Blue!
