It takes a village
Applying for federal grants is not easy, but Bill Carter of Stonington has done it successfully. He recently received a USDA grant to help with home repairs. Guiding him through the application process was the staff of At Home Downeast; local resident Skip Greenlaw helped him locate a contractor. Stephen Soucy will perform the work. At Home Downeast, a program of the Washington Hancock Community Agency, is committed to providing elder citizens with essential services, empowering them to live safely in their homes as they age. The program is a member of the national Village to Village Network, and relies on volunteers to provide services.
