Downtown Stonington Celebration set for Friday, September 7

The town will celebrate its downtown area on Friday, September 7, from 3 to 8 p.m., recognizing all that Stonington has to offer locals, summer residents and visitors, according to a news release.

The No. 1 commercial fishing port in Maine, Stonington was named one of the top 10 most beautiful fishing villages in the state by Down East magazine.

On September 7, the Stonington Farmers’ Market, the largest in the state, will be open from 10 a.m. to noon behind the former Elementary School at the top of Opera House Hill, and things will kick into high gear from 3 p.m. as almost all the downtown businesses will be open late and offer discounts, coupons, giveaways, live music, and refreshments.

The Stonington Downtown Celebration is sponsored by the Town of Stonington Economic Development Department. For more information, contact Economic Development Director Matthew Skolnikoff at 367-2351 or 335-2111 (mattsko@tds.net), or contact individual businesses.
