Relay for Life team to host Holiday Fair

by Jessica Brophy

On Saturday, November 24, people trying to get a jump on their Christmas shopping can head to the Deer Isle-Stonington High School from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a Holiday Craft and Vendor Fair.

Not only does November 24 happen to be “Small Business Saturday,” a national event aimed at promoting Christmas gift spending at small retailers, the holiday fair is a fundraiser for Hancock County Relay for Life’s Team USA. Admission is by donation.

Traci Martin, co-organizer of the event, said there are 36 vendors signed up.

“Last year we raised over $1,500 and are hoping for even more this year,” said Martin.

Vendors will sell goods ranging from jewelry, wreaths, ornaments, wooden bowls, wooden toys, crocheted items and more, according to Martin. Food will also be available, such as pizza and hot dogs.

Posing with Santa will also be available from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., with photos by Renee Zanke.
