Blue Hill Memorial Hospital to hold community meeting for Island residents
Focus group findings to be discussed

Blue Hill Memorial Hospital and the Island Medical Center Board of Directors will hold a community meeting on Wednesday, December 5, to share information it has collected regarding its Stonington medical facility.

The purpose of the meeting, according to a news release, is to share results from recent focus group work and communicate BHMH’s response to those findings. The hospital will also announce plans for improved services at Island Family Medicine and throughout the organization.

Both BHMH and IFM recently supported an initiative to coordinate discussions with individuals living year-round and community groups in Deer Isle-Stonington, according to a news release, in order to gather information about their perceptions of healthcare services on the Island.

In May, five focus groups were convened representing seniors, families, clergy, business, and fishermen’s wives. In addition, a “town hall meeting” was held in June with those senior citizens who attended the community lunch at the Island Community Center. The core questions asked centered on perceptions of Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, its relationship to Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems, and healthcare services that are working well and services that are not working well.

BHMH invites members of the Deer Isle and Stonington communities to attend an informational meeting. The meeting will be held at The Reach Performing Arts Center on Wednesday, December 5, at 6:30 p.m.
