Ramos “still planning” on running Lobster Web property as lobster dealer

by Jessica Brophy

Those who fished out of the Oceanville property formerly known as Lobster Web may soon know the future plans for the site by its new owner, Tony Ramos of New England Stone.

Ramos purchased the property on Wednesday, September 26, for $1.6 million. The property was sold at an auction forced by TD North, the bank controlling the assets of former owners Live Lobster of Chelsea, Mass.

In a phone interview on Monday, October 15, Ramos said he plans this week to meet with perspective managers for the business, which he foresees as continuing as it did before, as a lobster dealer.

Long-term plans for the property are still in the works, but could include possibly renovating to become a boatyard, said Ramos.

“It would be good to bring it back to life and get some jobs in there,” said Ramos.

At the auction on September 26, a 45-foot boat sold for $104,500 and a truck sold for $21,500. Also on that day, the Prospect Harbor processing facility sold for $900,000 to Garbo Lobster and East Coast Seafood. The property in Phippsburg sold for $215,000 on September 27.
