Meet the Talbots: couple takes positions at DIS high school
Chris and Jessica Talbot met at University of Maine at Farmington, where they were both studying to become teachers.
The Talbots have taken two positions at the Deer Isle-Stonington High School for the upcoming school year. Jessica Talbot will be the new physical sciences teacher and Chris Talbot will be coordinating the Learning Center.
The pair moved from Pittsfield, where they taught at the Maine Central Institute, an independent secondary school. The Talbots bring their three-year-old and seven-month-old twins with them.
Jessica Talbot said she had received word of the position from high school principal Todd West. “He said he had seen my resume floating out there and encouraged us to apply,” she said.
Talbot is from Waterville, and her husband Chris was born in Massachusetts but “more or less” grew up in Pittsfield.
Both are excited to be part of the island community. “Everyone’s nice, and more community-oriented than we’re used to,” said Jessica Talbot.
“We’re just looking to make a positive mark on the community,” said Chris Talbot.
