Island Men’s group acquires hall, plans open house
The Island Men’s Christian Fellowship group was formed and incorporated in the fall of 2011 by a small group of men who wanted to encourage men, through Christian values, to build stronger relationships and families while being a resource of help for the island community, according to a news release from the fellowship.
The group has recently acquired the old grange hall in north Deer Isle as a gathering place. The IMCF has men attending from almost every church on the island as well as men that do not attend any church. The fellowship meets on Monday nights at 6 p.m. and all men are welcome to attend.
The IMCF is celebrating its new facility with an open house for the next two weekends: December 14 from 5 to 7 p.m., as well as December 20, 21 and 22 from 5 to 7. There will be a nativity scene outside and refreshments and gifts for the children inside. The fellowship expresses its sincere thanks to Jean Burdo for painting the animals for the nativity scene and welcomes all to join them for the celebration of the birth of Jesus.
