Island players named to all-star team

Two Deer Isle-Stonington High School seniors were selected to play in the 2013 McDonald’s Senior All-Star Basketball tournament. Sam Grindle and Chelsea Brown played on the Class C/D All-Star East team at Husson University in Bangor last weekend, according to a news release.

The boys game against all-stars from Western Maine was Saturday, March 9, in the Newman Gymnasium on the Husson campus. The girls played at the same venue.

Net proceeds from ticket, souvenir and program sales went to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maine.
