The Maine State Police have been searching for Jamie Cox, 36, since he was indicted by a grand jury on April 4 of three counts of sexual abuse of a minor.

Cox lived in Deer Isle in 2012, though his current address is listed as Gouldsboro. The alleged crimes took place between May 15 and September 15 of 2012.

According to Maine Criminal Code, sexual abuse of a minor is charged in cases where a person allegedly engages in a sexual act with another person who is 14 or 15 years of age. Such a crime can be classified as Class C if the person is 10 or more years older than the minor.

In a state police flier posted on social media, the criminal code for hindering apprehension or prosecution was included, reminding the public that it is illegal to conceal a person with an active arrest warrant. It also is illegal to provide or aid in providing a weapon, transportation or disguise, or to warn the wanted person of an impending discovery or apprehension.

Anyone with information related to the location of Jamie Cox should contact the Maine State Police at 1-800-432-7381.
