Bike coalition formed in Deer Isle
Organizers have announced the formation of the Deer Isle Bike Coalition, a group of riders and drivers that have come together to make biking on the Island safer for everyone, according to a news release. The group aims to foster an appreciation of riding and riders through events, outreach and a scholarship.
Events will include island rides, bike swaps, community training opportunities and movie nights. The coalition also will sponsor a scholarship for an Island student who aids in the development and implementation of a grassroots program to help educate riders and drivers on the benefits and challenges of riding on the Island. The group will be teaming up with the Bicycle Coalition of Maine for more extensive statewide opportunities. For more information, visit the coalition’s Facebook page or contact Sloan Russell at 348-1030 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
