Fundraiser set to help bring firefighter’s family home to Maine
Hiedi Adams moved from Maine to New Mexico with her husband, firefighter Token Adams, in 2012.
In late August, Token Adams went missing while fighting a fire in the Sante Fe National Forest, according to a report from Reuters. A week later, his body was found by a search crew. The Jemez Ranger District fire crew believes Adams died in an ATV crash.
Hiedi Adams has a 3-year-old son, and she is due with a second child “any day now,” according to her cousin, Stephanie Alley-Billings.
Hiedi, whose maiden name is Ames, lived with the Alley family while she attended Deer Isle-Stonington High School for her junior and senior years.
A fun run will be held on Sunday, September 22, to raise funds to help Adams move with her children from New Mexico back to Maine, where Adams can be close to her mother in the Warren area.
“Hiedi doesn’t have any family out west,” said Alley-Billings.
The fun run will start at the Island Community Center in Stonington at 1 p.m.
A website has been set up to raise money.
