BHBT closes in on re-opening renovated branch
Construction on the Bar Harbor Bank & Trust branch in Deer Isle is ongoing, with the renovated building scheduled to re-open on April 7.
Bar Harbor Bank & Trust began renovating its Deer Isle branch in early October and will finish the project ahead of schedule, according to a news release from the bank.
“We are pleased to announce that the renovations of the branch will be completed ahead of schedule. This is due to the hard work of our contractors,” said Stephen Leackfeldt, EVP/Retail Banking & Operations.
The newly renovated branch is scheduled to reopen for business on Monday, April 7. However, some exterior work is not able to be completed until May, such as the final coat of paving.
The highlight of the renovations is the repositioning of the branch entrance from the west side to the south side of the building, allowing space inside for an additional customer service office. The parking lot behind the branch was expanded to accommodate a dedicated lane for a drive up ATM as well as additional parking spaces. Other improvements include a handicap accessible public restroom, increased security for the safe deposit box area, a new roof, energy efficient windows, and upgrades of all central systems including lights, security, HVAC and electrical.
“We are so appreciative of our customers’ patience during the construction process and their continued loyalty to Bar Harbor Bank & Trust,” said Rebecca Emerson, AVP and Branch Relationship Manager, Deer Isle. A grand re-opening celebration is planned for early May, the 40th anniversary of the Bank’s presence in Deer Isle.
