School board names new DISHS principal
Begins July 16

The CSD 13 Board named Dennis Duquette, originally of the Southern Maine area, as the new principal of Deer Isle-Stonington High School, according to Union 76 Superintendent Chris Elkington.

The board approved the hiring during a special meeting on the morning of June 28.

According to Elkington, Duquette’s yearly salary will be $90,000. Duquette is not taking any insurance as part of his compensation package.

Duquette will replace former principal Ed Hatch, who submitted his resignation this spring after serving only one year in the position.

Duquette brings years of experience to the island high school, having served as a superintendent and principal at the middle school level. He has also spent time as a middle school teacher during his education career, according to Elkington.

Duquette’s first day at the principal’s desk at Deer Isle-Stonington High School will be July 16.
