Castine Historical Society opens Christmas Pop-Up Shop

Castine is a great place for holiday shopping this year, with several new stores opening downtown, along with other businesses hosting pop-up shops. The Castine Historical Society is joining the excitement with their own Christmas Pop-Up Shop hosted by Saltmeadow Properties at 7 Main Street. The shop will open on Saturday, November 24, for Small Business Saturday and then be open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays by chance through December 21. For those unable to make these hours, items can also be purchased online at and be either shipped or picked up at the Historical Society.

Among the items available for purchase are Castine or nautical-themed clothing, gifts, Christmas ornaments, mugs, and books for children and adults. Another giving opportunity is purchasing a gift memberships to the Castine Historical Society for friends or family.

While the Castine Historical Society exhibits are closed for the 2018 season, the Grindle House offices and research library located at 13 School Street in Castine are open year-round. Researchers are welcome by advance appointment.
