Isle au Haut calls citizens to town meeting
by Anne Berleant
Citizens will gather at Revere Memorial Hall on Monday, April 29, for Isle au Haut’s annual town meeting to elect town officials and consider 75 warrant articles funding roads, waste disposal, snow removal, the fire department, education and requests from local nonprofits.
Article 42 seeks to create a broadband fund and appropriate an unspecified amount to place in it.
Nominations will be taken from the floor to elect 16 local officials for terms that extend to the 2020 town meeting before voters tackle education articles totaling $259,752, a decrease of about $18,000 despite a $30,000 request for capital improvements up from $5,000.
The decrease in education requests falls across all areas: regular instruction is down about $34,000, special education $2,800 and transportation $4,750.
Article 36 begins the municipal articles. Isle au Haut does not include specific dollar requests for town services such as road maintenance, administration, and the like, or for requests from nonprofits including LifeFlight of Maine, Memorial Ambulance Corps, Island Medical Center, and Maine Seacoast Mission.
