CSD Board has more openings than candidates
Write-in votes could resolve the issue
by Faith DeAmbrose
When island voters head to the polls to elect their school board members for the coming year, they may be surprised to see fewer names on the ballot than there are actual positions to fill.
Jane Osborne will seek reelection to a three-year term while Tracie Morey has returned papers for a two-year seat. This will leave one three-year term and one two-year term for which no candidates have stepped forward.
Write-in candidates could fill those positions, but in the absence of that, new members would be appointed by town boards of selectmen for a one year term until the next election cycle.
In both towns, polls will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by the business portion of town meeting at 3 p.m.
