DISHS announces honor parts
Deer Isle-Stonington High School will hold commencement exercises for the Class of 2019 on Sunday, June 16, at 1 p.m. in the high school gym.
The valedictorian is Lillian Gray, daughter of Becky and Jerry Gray of Brooksville.
Lilly has been president of Student Council and a member of National Honor Society. She has participated in basketball, soccer, softball, tennis and peer support. Lilly was the recipient of the Phi Beta Kappa book award. She plans to attend Curry College in Milton, Mass., to study business management with a concentration in entrepreneurship.
The salutatorian is Kaitlyne Harrison, daughter of Sandra Noonan of Deer Isle and Jared Harrison of Palmer, Mass.
Kaitlyne has been a member of Student Council, National Honor Society, peer support and year book. She has been a manager for softball and basketball and participated in tennis and theater. Kaitlyne was the recipient of the Williams book award. She plans to attend the University of New England in Biddeford to pursue a social work degree.
The first honor essayist is Adeline McDonald, daughter of Haley and Jason McDonald of Deer Isle.
Addie has been a member of Student Council, National Honor Society and math team. She has participated in soccer and tennis and been a manager for girls basketball. Addie plans to attend Southern Maine Community College in Portland. She will be exploring her options before declaring a major.
The second honor essayist is Mercades Rice, daughter of Jennifer Seile of Kittery and granddaughter of Helen McKinnon of Deer Isle.
Sadie has been a member of Student Council, National Honor Society and peer support. She has been class president for several years and participated in basketball, soccer and softball and also been a manager for soccer. Sadie plans to attend Maine Maritime Academy in Castine to study international business and logistics.
