Valentine's Day treats

The Island Community Center put together bags full of treats for the island’s seniors. Each bag includes a homemade Valentine, a craft kit, a heart necklace and a chocolate treat. The ICC-made Valentine card kits were available at The Galley and Burnt Cove Market. People took them home, made a Valentine and then dropped them off where they got them. Deer Isle-Stonington Elementary School students pitched in as well. ICC Director Jeannie Hatch said people made hundreds of cards for the island seniors. She planned to deliver them to the Island Nursing Home, and Healthy Island Project volunteers planned to make deliveries to seniors participating in the weekly Lunch Box program.
