The Stonington fish pier

A shot of the Stonington fish pier, one part of the busy harbor that made Stonington the top-grossing lobster port in the state in 2011 according to the DMR. Last year, nearly 15 million pounds of lobster was landed in-town, at a worth of $46.3 million. Statewide, more than 100 million pounds of lobster was landed—smashing the 2010’s record of 96 million by more than seven million pounds. While volume was up, boat prices slid down from 2010 to $3.19 per pound.
