Bridging the gap

Workers from CPM Construction continue their work on the Holt Mill Pond Bridge at the Deer Isle-Stonington town line. According to Maine Department of Transportation Engineer John Knowles, work on the bridge is “going well.” After a brief setback involving the delivery of crucial materials, Knowles said the bridge is expected to be open to traffic mid-October. Currently, the precast concrete girders that span the gap are in place and CPM crews are prepping for paving operations. Knowles said “a few minor items have impacted the schedule,” but he is confident CPM will make the overall completion deadline, set for November 17.
