I write this letter in a time that I’m uncomfortable with the world situation, and I honestly don’t know how, or have any idea on how, to correct it.

I was watching the 6:00/6:30 news a couple days ago and I watched a story where a lady was putting out books and food for people who were in need. I saw this young African American girl holding onto the book Goodnight Moon that she had picked out. The image struck me instantly as I had read the same book to my (white) son and daughter.

I asked myself what was the difference between this young curly haired black girl holding onto the book Goodnight Moon and my own children? The answer came to me as quickly as the question, nothing!
