Mark the date: Stonington elections March 5
Absentee ballots available

Municipal elections will take place in Stonington on Friday, March 5, though Town Meeting has been postponed until Saturday, May 15. It will be held outdoors at the ball field.

All candidates are incumbents and unopposed.

For the March 5 election, masks are mandatory and social distancing is required. Voters can request absentee ballots through Town Clerk Diane Hardie or online from the secretary of state at maine.gov/cgi-bin/online/AbsenteeBallot/index.pl.

Candidates for Stonington Sanitary District Trustee (three-year terms)

Papers have not been filed for the two open in-district trustee seats and one open at-large seat. Two current trustees have agreed to run as write-in candidates, according to Town Manager Kathleen Billings. They are At-Large Trustee Ronald Eaton and In-District Trustee Diana Turner.

Only Stonington Sanitary District residents may vote for Sanitary District candidates.
