INH, employment and housing to be discussed at community forum on Sept. 15
Skip Greenlaw, the Island Nursing Home’s first board president, is putting together a virtual forum on Wednesday, September 15, from 6 to 8 p.m., to discuss the nursing home, as well as the employment and housing challenges facing Island businesses.
“We all have become aware, thanks to the efforts of the Island Workforce Housing Committee, that there is a critical shortage of affordable housing which impacts the opportunity for INH, our schools, and businesses to hire qualified employees,” Greenlaw said in a press release.
According to the release, comments will be brief, and the majority of the time will be available to answer questions from community members and to begin to find solutions to these problems.
The release further states: “The Zoom connection for this forum can be found on School Union 76 website: su76.org. Click on Community Forum for the Zoom connection and click again on the Zoom address, which will let you into the forum.
“Jane Osborne has agreed to be the Zoom host. Your name must appear on your picture. The discussion will be civil or your participation will be terminated. We would appreciate questions and suggestions, not speeches. We regret very much that we could not have this forum in person, but it seems like too big a risk to have so many people meeting inside a building given the parameters of the delta variant of the COVID-19 pandemic. If you have questions about this forum, please contact Skip Greenlaw at 460-1260.”
